I have seen a lot of no-name brand cable internet stores claiming they are offering the same quality and performance as Comprehensive for only a few dollars-how can that be?
It can’t and simply is not true. You get what you pay for and cable is no exception to that rule. There have been a flood of “Johnny-come-lately” internet companies claiming to be able to provide premium cable products for “next to nothing”.  Unfortunately for the consumer, most of these companies are a few individuals simply importing no-name brand “look alike” cables from whichever Chinese factory has the lowest price that month.

I thought all cables were basically the same and it was just a matter of price?
Not true. Many cables look alike from the outside but in terms of construction and performance are night and day. The materials used and construction of the cable matters greatly in terms of overall performance and reliability. It’s not only looks but knowing what to look for.  Does the cable have 95% braided shielding or a lower percentage? This can affect the performance and price significantly which is why most never mention it. We always mention it loud and proud. Are they using high quality impedance matched nickel over brass connectors or inexpensive and unreliable die-cast connectors? Are they an authorized HDMI adopter and are their HDMI cables ATC certified by the HDMI authorized testing center? What is their quality control and testing procedures? Remember, cabling is a science, not a marketing endeavor. All of these details determine the performance and reliability of the cable whether it is a video cable, audio cable or computer cable.

So the devil is in the details and you get what you pay for essentially?
